Fresh snow at the Ski Resorts!Fresh snow has come to all ski resorts. The highest levels have been recorded at Pertouli and Vasilitsa. 3-5 Pigadia, Vasilitsa, Kaimaktalan, Vitsi and Mainalo ski resorts will be in operation this weekend. Pisoderi, Elatochori, Pertouli and Metsovo are already in operation. At Parnassos ski resort the quantity of snow is not enough to allow the packing of snow in order to form the first layer. At Mainalo ski resort a plastic slope has been set. The slope has already been covered by 30 cm of snow. Also, this Weekend, the Snow Park of Ziria at Trikala of Korinthia will be in operation with a 200 meter long baby lift, snowmobiles and skiing lessons. The snow height at the park is 50 cm today. We are expecting snap shots from the new Snow Cams of Pisoderi, Pertouli and Metsovo. A new wave of light snowfalls is expected on Saturday morning with Southwest strong winds. Winds will turn to North on Sunday with a noticeable major fall of temperater. At sea level altitude the temperature is expected to reach zero degrees this Monday. Two plastic slopes for ski/snowboard and snowtubes are set at Politses ski resort in Metsovo. The slopes are 270 and 100 meters long respectively. The ski/snowboard slope is 12 meters wide and the ascend is being accomplished via the middle lift, at the left you can see a recent photo where the plastic is getting placed on the artificial grass by an Italian workshop. The inauguration opening for the building of the new Ski Resort in Velvedos (Kozani) took place on the 1/10/2005. Well know companies Doppelmayr (Austria) and GARAVENTA AG (Switzerland) were present as shareholders of 40% each. Also the Greek company LM S.A. with 40%, the municipality of Velvedos with 12%, private citizen Mr. Christodoulos Markalas with 6%, the district of western Macedonia with 1% and the Skiing association of Velvedos with 1% This work is a vision of the Managing Director of LM S.A., Mr. Leonardos Anagnostopoulos: "The budget for this work is 30 million euro with a deadline within two to three years. At first, in the beginning of 2007, the overhead lift with capacity
(No 1) of 80-100 people/cabin and 9 minutes estimated time of ascend for the distance of 3,8 km is expected to be in operation. The Ski resort is one hour away from Thessaloniki…" Visit the site of the new Ski resort for further information here!
